Old Interesting Maps of Bainbridge

I have scanned or downloaded images of old maps of the Bainbridge area. I’d like to continue to add more map images. If anyone has any to contribute, please send to me and I’ll upload them here.

In the stuff from Gene and Jeanne is an old 1874 Lake & Geauga County Atlas. I scanned the Bainbridge page and then broke it down to 4 sections to see the details.

The handwriting across the top says:

From C. C. Monharp, Ch__ 9 & 5

There were 10 school districts from about 1840 to 1900, including 4 Union districts, 2 of which were with solon and 2 with Aurora.

Great Teachers of District school days in Bainbridge between the Civil War and the centralizing of the schools:

C M Foot, J.W. Scott, S.G. McFarland, A. R. Phillips, J. J. Bliss, Sylvia Pettibone, Fanny McCollum, Mary Whipple, Celia Bidlake, Marian Niece.

Among earlier teachers were: Phebe Moffard, Chauncey Niece, Gideon Kent, Clark Blair and John Henry.

There are various notes all across the page. Most of them designate where a school stood and teachers.
The bottom right corner on C. L. Chamberlain property shows a school and says:

Nov. 1834 to Feb 22, 1835 John Henry taught here with 18 pupils including E. D. Kingsley, Geo., Robert & Theo Smith, G. Smith, Jr, Alex Jr. & Russel Osborn.

On the right side margin it says:

1st school in Bainbridge taught by young Mr. Skiff of Windham in 1816
